George's Story
George spent his early working life as an engineer in the Scottish Coal mines but in his early twenties he forged a new path for himself. George qualified in Bedford to become a PE teacher and sports leader, igniting a lifelong passion to inspire generations of children and young people to thrive through sport, activity and adventure.
In the early 1990’s George left teaching and headed to the Isle of Wight to transform the much-loved Little Canada site from a dated Holiday Park to an industry leading School Residential and Summer Camp operation. Under his leadership, Little Canada became one of the largest and most successful outdoor education centres in the UK, with over 600 residential children a week and over 150 qualified staff. Little Canada soon became the benchmark for residential centres across the UK.
In 2004, feeling ready for new challenges and recognising a gap in the leisure and tourism market, George, alongside his wife Karen, created an exciting new leisure services company, In2action Ltd.
Working with leisure giants First Choice and TUI, George and Karen were instrumental in designing, developing and operating an exciting new family holiday concept. Holiday Village was launched in 2004, delivering exceptional kids’ club concepts, industry-leading high adventure courses and revolutionary daytime family activity programmes.
Under George and Karen's leadership, In2action was fully immersed in the Holiday Village concept, development, activity programme design, and the world-wide operational roll-out of 14 Holiday Villages across the globe. Design, delivery and the operation of kid’s clubs and family activity programmes was the full responsibility of In2action. George and the team were also responsible for overseeing the implementation and safe operation of bespoke High Adventure Courses across 14 sites worldwide.
Throughout the following years In2action delivered programmes to over 1 million families and trained and managed over 5000 staff.
In2action was also quickly established as one of the most trusted and experienced training companies in the UK’.
Through George and Karen's leadership In2action also gained many prestigious awards over the years including the Isle of Wight business of the year and Centre Parcs supplier of the year.
From the early 2000's until the present day, Leisure giants such as TUI, Disney, Centre Parcs, Canvas, Parkdean Resorts, iFly Dubai, Haven, Warner Holidays, and Away Resorts have all benefited from the experience George and Karen bring to the leisure sector table.
Specializing in creative and differentiating products, George and Karen now help to ensure that leisure industry giants and small family businesses alike have ongoing success within their own domain.
In recent years, George has dedicated his efforts to establishing a new charitable foundation for Forgotten Middle children. The Grow Outdoors Institute, formerly known as the Inspiring Learning Foundation, offers a program called 'The Building Blocks to Success' that provides guidance, support, and mentorship to students in Year 8 and Year 9. This program helps children develop their personal goals and aspirations, empowering them to explore and forge pathways towards achieving their dreams.
George’s latest new and exciting venture, LeisureIQ, will see companies Worldwide benefit from his wealth of experience across the leisure sector and beyond.
